Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 05/20/2026

BURST Oral Care is committed to making burstoralcare.com usable by as many people as possible, including customers who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control, switch devices, or keyboard-only navigation.

Our standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This is the standard used by most accessibility regulations worldwide, including those referenced under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act, and EN 301 549 in the EU.

What we’ve done

Between April and May 2026 we completed a multi-phase remediation program against WCAG 2.1 AA across our consumer storefront. Specific work included:

  • Adding visible keyboard focus indicators across every interactive element

  • Ensuring all dialogs, drawers, and modals (cart, mobile menu, product image viewer, subscription portal) have accessible names and proper ARIA roles

  • Wiring keyboard support to all mega-menu navigation toggles, including correct aria-expanded and aria-controls behavior

  • Correcting heading hierarchy across product pages, search results, sign-in and sign-up, the customer account portal, and the subscription portal so each page has exactly one H1

  • Adding valid autocomplete attributes to sign-in and sign-up password fields so browser password managers and assistive technologies behave correctly

  • Ensuring sufficient color contrast across the storefront (verified at 4.5:1 minimum for body text and 3:1 minimum for large text and interactive elements)

  • Adding descriptive alternative text to all product images and labeling decorative animations so screen readers skip them appropriately

  • Marking auto-playing background videos as decorative and muted by default, with no audio track

  • Providing accessible names for all form controls, including the contact form, gift card selector, wholesale signup, sign-in, and sign-up

  • Adding skip-to-main-content navigation for keyboard users

  • Ensuring all radio button groups are wrapped in <fieldset> elements with descriptive <legend> text

  • Removing third-party accessibility overlays that interfered with native assistive technologies

What’s hosted by third parties

Parts of the experience are rendered by third-party platforms and applications. We do not directly control the code for these surfaces, and we have applied a custom accessibility patch layer on top to remediate issues we can fix from our end. Where issues remain that we cannot fix without vendor cooperation, we have raised them with each vendor and continue to track them.

Third-party surfaces on our site include:

  • Shopify Checkout — the checkout flow at /checkouts/. Shopify maintains its own accessibility program. Sign-in, sign-up, and the customer account portal on our site are first-party and not covered by this third-party section.

  • Recharge — the subscription management portal at /tools/recurring/. We have applied patches for ARIA attribute validity and color contrast.

  • Okendo — the product reviews and ratings widget on product pages. We have applied patches to label its image carousel controls.

  • Firework — the shoppable video feed embedded in select pages. We have added landmark roles and accessible names to the outer container.

  • Closeby — the store locator on /pages/store-locator. We have added a descriptive title to its iframe.

Known limitations

We’re being open about what isn’t fully resolved yet:

  • The Firework shoppable video feed contains an inner scrollable region that is not keyboard-focusable in its current vendor build. We have raised this with Firework and are tracking a fix.

  • The Shopify-hosted checkout contains accessibility issues outside our direct control. We have raised these with Shopify and continue to track them.

  • We have not yet completed end-to-end testing with users who rely on screen readers. This is planned for the next audit cycle.

  • Captions on shoppable videos rendered by Firework depend on each video’s upload configuration. We are auditing our video library to ensure captions are enabled for any video containing spoken audio.
